Kaj Franck sought to remove excess in his work leaving only the essentials, earning him the title of the 'conscience of Finnish design'. He grew up in a world with both elaborate and sparse dining services, and during his significant career, Franck formed his identity between the two extremes and profoundly changed our understanding of what tableware could be. In 1958, Franck created the Kartio glass, which captured the perfect balance between material and geometric form. Simple, yet durable enough for everyday use, Franck mastered the minimalist design of the basic drinking glass. The Kartio tumbler is durable enough for everyday use and features a design that would look beautiful with all types of decor and table settings.
